Zouma: One Of My Best Wins

Kurt Zouma has labelled Everton’s thumping 4-0 victory over Manchester United as one of his best days in football.

The defender helped the Blues record a sixth clean sheet in eight games as goals from Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lucas Digne and Theo Walcott gave the Club its biggest Premier League success against the Red Devils.

The dazzling performance saw Everton climb to seventh in the Premier League table with just three games remaining, prompting Zouma to hail it a “perfect” afternoon for Marco Silva’s men.

Asked where the victory ranked against others in his career, the on-loan Frenchman, who lifted the Under-20 World Cup with his country and has won two Premier Leagues and one League Cup with parent club Chelsea, said: “It’s one of the best, because we know they have quality.

“We also have quality but everybody knows about Manchester United and I know how the club hadn’t won against them here for four years.

“So to win here, sunny day, 4-0, clean sheet, beautiful goals - it was one of the best wins for me.”

Everton's resilience against United - the visitors did not register a single shot on target until the 86th minute of the contest - means the Blues have now beaten Chelsea, Arsenal and United in consecutive home games without conceding a goal, having become only the third side this season to shut out Liverpool in their Goodison outing immediately prior to that sequence.

Zouma believes the confidence gained from their recent successes against top-four chasing sides proved the foundation for Sunday’s victory - and also credited a boisterous capacity home crowd for its role in driving the players on.

“Of course [those wins against Chelsea and Arsenal] gave us a lot of confidence and we knew that against top teams we can beat them.

“We are at home, it’s difficult to beat us and we just need to keep going like this.

“It was a good job from the team, from everybody. You could see the crowd, how happy they were, they were loud today, singing a lot, so they gave us our motivation and I think on the pitch we did everything good today.

“We knew that when we play at home we are very difficult to beat and also that we can have a lot of chances to score.

“I thought we were more clinical than usual and you can see four goals scored and none conceded - it’s been the perfect day for us today.”
