Mateusz Hewelt

Goalkeeper Mateusz Hewelt joined Everton as a first-year scholar in the summer of 2013.

Polish-born, the youngster had previously played in the Republic of Ireland for Stella Maris and Shelbourne FC.

Hewelt was a regular for the Under-18s in 2014/15, while also finishing the campaign in goal for the Under-21s and traveling as back-up with the senior squad.

He was almost an ever-present as David Unsworth's Under-23s side were crowned Premier League 2 champions in 2016/17, while also being named on the first-team bench on a handful of occasions in the absence of either Maarten Stekelenburg or Joel Robles.

Hewelt signed a two-year contract with Everton in May 2017. He was forced to undergo ankle surgery in August - which kept him out of action for more than two months - but upon his recovery returned to play a key role for the Under-23s for the remainder of the 2017/18 campaign.

Contracted until: June 2019
